Bio oil production

Bio oils can be produced in many different ways, including via GMOs from yeast and bacteria, algae, pine or corn. Alfa Laval provides a wide range of solutions for processing such bio oils, including separation, heat transfer and fluid handling equipment.

Biodiesel production

Biodiesel is a renewable fuel derived from vegetable oils, yellow grease, used cooking oils and animal fats. Alfa Laval provides both standardized solutions for small-scale biodiesel production and customized solutions for large-scale industrial production. Alfa Laval solutions are specifically designed for biodiesel production and combine high performance, high yield and low utility consumption, with a focus on conserving energy.

Bioethanol production

Ethanol is a renewable fuel derived mainly from sugar or starch crops. In recent years, however, some ethanol production plants have begun to use biomass (cellulosic fibres). Alfa Laval supplies innovative technologies for every phase of grain-based processing, sugar-based processing as well as ethanol production based on cellulosic raw fibre. Used as a renewable pure fuel or gasoline additive, ethanol increases octane and reduces emissions.
