High Energy Efficiency
The high thermal efficiency of plate evaporators makes it possible to utilize heat from various sources, such as mechanical and thermal energy, as well as waste steam from dryers, for example.
The most effective way to reduce steam consumption in an evaporation system is to increase the number of effects. Each effect saves steam and cuts energy costs. Thanks to its compact design, Alfa Laval systems can accommodate more effects in a given space than any traditional falling film system.
The small footprint also means existing falling film systems can be retrofitted with Alfa Laval effects, resulting in up to 33% lower steam consumption.
Easy Maintenance and More Uptime
The high turbulence flow in the AlfaVap plate evaporator makes it less prone to fouling. Special corrugated patterns ensure high turbulence across the entire plate. This turbulence not only reduces fouling but also makes chemical cleaning (CIP) very effective. As a result, the system experiences significantly less fouling, lower maintenance costs, and more uptime.
All surfaces are easily accessible for maintenance and can be cleaned in place within the physical footprint of the unit.
Flexible Capacity
The plate structure of AlfaVap makes it easy to adjust capacity to meet changing demands simply by adding or removing plates while keeping the existing frame.
High Product Quality
Low temperatures combined with short residence times in the plate evaporator (due to low hold-up volume) ensure a high-quality final product with minimal discoloration. The low hold-up volume also ensures a fast, smooth start-up with easy controllability.
Ideal Solution for High Viscosity Liquids
AlfaVap plate evaporators maintain high thermal efficiency even when handling viscous liquids. The AlfaVap evaporation system can easily handle liquids exceeding 300 cP. For higher viscosities, we recommend using the Alfa Laval AlfaFlash system.
