Food and beverages, as well as other products, often have high viscosity or contain various particles. In such cases, tubular heat exchangers are usually the most practical solution for heating or cooling the product. Alfa Laval ViscoLine™ are highly efficient tubular heat exchangers that combine corrugated tubes or other advanced profiles designed to increase turbulence in the cooling medium flow. This significantly increases the overall heat transfer coefficient.
ViscoLine Multitube Heat Exchanger
The ViscoLine multitube heat exchanger is one of the most widely used thermal solutions for viscous food. It is an ideal device for heating, cooling, and pasteurizing low and medium viscosity products, as well as products containing fibers and small particles.
Monotube installations are most commonly used for heat-treating products containing large particles, or those with high pulp or fiber content. The ViscoLine monotube heat exchanger consists of a single tube mounted inside an outer shell.
The Annular model is used at higher viscosity levels when it is necessary to apply heat to the product from both the inside and outside simultaneously to prevent stratification. In this tube-in-tube-in-tube model, the product flows between the inner and middle tubes.
The product flows counter-currently in the tube with the medium in the shell. This makes it possible to recover product heat. The ViscoLine Regenerator consists of a removable tube bundle mounted inside an outer shell and welded to tube plates at both ends.
The CIP unit is ideal for hot water and heating cleaning fluids. The product may contain fibers and small particles.
