NF Spiral
Alfa Laval's Nano-spiral membranes are constructed from polyester support material in a hygienic spiral design, increasing filtration efficiency and ease of cleaning. The membranes offer a wide range of length, diameter, and flow pad size options to suit various applications. With ultra-fine pore sizes up to 300 Daltons and operating pressures up to 50 bar, the membranes allow small ions and alcohols to pass through while retaining organic compounds, colors, flavors, and high-valence salts. The equipment is widely used in whey concentration and demineralization, antibiotics, food filtrate, and low-alcohol beverage production.

UF Spiral
Alfa Laval's Ultrafiltration spiral membranes are based on a unique structure of polypropylene or polyester support material in a microbiological design that provides optimal cleaning conditions. Spiral membranes are available with various Ultrafiltration membrane types with different combinations of lengths, diameters, and feed pad sizes.
The pores of the membranes used for Alfa Laval ultrafiltration spiral membranes are small, ranging from 1,000 to 100,000 molecular weight (MWCO), and the applied pressure is relatively low. Salts, sugars, organic acids, and smaller peptides pass through the membrane pores, while proteins, fats, and polysaccharides are retained.
Using the appropriate Ultrafiltration membrane also helps to fractionate the feed stream into two separate streams, with each containing dissolved components of different molecular weights.
